  • Condition: Please see photos citing condition issues. There are two small areas, one on the top of the Dorsal fin and the other on the upper tip of the Caudal fin, where there are a few millimetres of paint are chipped away and there is a scratch in the painted finish of the left Pelvic fin.

    Description

    Brook Trout Wood Carving on Hardwood Burl Base
    14" L x 8.5" H x 6" W
    There is no mark that I can find, to identify who created this painted carving.
    However, this example is unique in its detail and that alone may help those, who are more familiar with the craft, to determine who the artist is.
    The burled wood base is a fabulous addition. I'm uncertain as to what sort of wood it is but it is very dense and dark. It has a rough cut bottom (see photo) I've not found another artist that used burl for the base of their work.

    he quality of painted finish is excellent. Then, there are the teeth. I've looked at lots of examples by various artists and have only seen one other artist who had the talent and took the time to include such detail. And his work is highly valued. But even he didn't include this level of detail.
