Great Vintage JOHN MATASSA Hand Carved Wood Smallmouth Bass Sculpture
An incredibly detailed fish sculpture hand carved from cypress wood and red oak in the 1990s by John Matassa. More specifically, the sculpture shows two Smallmouth Bass specimens mounted in their natural environment. Masterfully executed down to the last scale. Good vintage condition with an old repair to the tail fin of one of the fish and missing a little piece on the same fin (see close-up picture). Also, there is a natural crack in the base.
Singed and dated by the artist on the bottom.
Measures
18" High x 11" Deep x 17" Wide.
