Rare Vichy WW 2 Pro Patria Pendant Brooch Petain Medal by F. Angeli.

ABOUT THIS ITEM: Almost never offered, an original Marshall Philippe Petain medal that can be worn as a pendant or as a brooch.
The face has the bust of Petain, during WW2 he became Head of State of Vichy-France, located in the south of France. Vichy collaborated with Germany from 1941 until the Germans occupied Vichy in late 1942.
The back has the symbols of Vichy and the text "Travail Famille Patrie" (Work, Family, Homeland), the motto of Vichy, it replaced the motto :"Liberte Egalite Fraternite" of the 3rd French Republic.
This medal was worn by the Milice, a political paramilitary organization created by Vichy to help fight against the French Resistance.
Signed by engraver F. Angeli (on shoulder) and OA 137, the diameter is min 2.2 cm and the weight is 4.95 grams.
